BOSTON — Treasurer Deb Goldberg, today, released the following statement on Financial Literacy Month:

"Too many Americans still face the reality of a tough economy and lack the tools they need to be financially successful. At Treasury, we are committed to investing in our students, families, seniors, veterans and service members by breaking down barriers and providing critical financial skills and tools in communities across the state. When we invest in people, we empower people to invest in themselves."

Also today, Treasurer Goldberg launched a new twitter handle for her Office of Economic Empowerment (OEE). @EmpowermentMA will provide updates on OEE initiatives, and share news, facts, and tips for students, families, veterans and seniors.

On day one, Treasurer Goldberg created an Office of Economic Empowerment led by a deputy treasurer with the deliberate goal of incorporating a range of initiatives, including financial literacy, college affordability, and programming to support wage equality.
